INTERN
WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE
SPRING 2016 SESSION!
PLEASE SEND YOUR RESUME AND COVER LETTER, AND APPLICATION TO INTERNSHIPS@CITYLIT.ORG
City Lit offers several Administrative/Artistic internships to college students or recent graduates during the spring, summer, and fall. Interns must commit to between 20 and 40 hours a week of work in our Edgewater office.
Administrative/Artistic Interns help with any and all tasks associated with running a small nonprofit theater and work as an essential part of our small staff. Interns may have the option to focus their internship based on their interests (casting, web design, marketing, etc.) Interns will gain experience in grant-writing, advertising, casting, research and development, and office management.
Stage Management/Technical Interns work directly with the Artistic and Managing and with designers, engineers, and stage managers to assist with set, lighting, sound, properties, and costumes. On any day, a Technical/Stage Management Intern might assist in maintenance and inventories of equipment, arrange contact lists and schedule rehearsals, or help notate blocking and track script changes. It is helpful if applicants have a rudimentary background in technical theater, some knowledge of hand and power tools, sewing, or painting, and some stage management experience.
Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, comfortable taking initiative on specific projects, efficient researchers, strong writers, and passionate about theater. Design skills a plus.
Internships are unpaid. We do not require our interns to seek academic credit, but it may be earned depending on college policy.
